1928 Mercedez SSK 1928 Mercedez SSK
Mercedes-Benz
The 1928 Mercedes SSK was perhaps the fastest and most robust automobile produced up to that time, and it dominated the European racing circuit. 1928 marked the end of the historic tenure of Ferdinand Porsche as the head designer for Daimler Benz, and his "S" series helped secure Daimler's reputation for performance with its ground-breaking aluminum-block technology. The Mercedes SSK came in several varieties, and this is the touring version. It's an important part of the Mercedes legend, and this model is an adequate representation. It has a very nice exterior, which means it looks great on a shelf! The paint is smooth and shiny. The model has several chrome accents - exhausts, running boards, wire wheels and radiator. The windshield is interesting and adds to the character of the model. The hood is secured by a soft vinyl strap, and opens to reveal a powerful in-line powerplant, not particularly detailed but still cool. There are no doors or trunk - the dual spare is external

1933 Pierce Arrow Sliver Arrow 1933 Pierce Arrow Sliver Arrow
Other Diecast
The Design of the Pierce Arrow Founded in 1901 by former birdcage builder George N. Pierce, the Pierce Motor Company of Buffalo, NY was first known for producing some of the most elegant, massive, and reliable automobiles ever built. The company then became a pioneer in the use of aluminum to build automobiles, as well as in the development of power brakes. Perhaps the most famous Pierce-Arrow feature is the fender-mounted headlamp, introduced in 1913. The 1930 Model B had all the luxurious detail and reliability of its predecessors. The sporty two-door Convertible Coupe version was particularly attractive with wire spoke wheels, chrome accents, a functioning rumble seat, and the signature Pierce-Arrow hood ornament. Unfortunately for Pierce-Arrow enthusiasts the company would struggle after the Great Depression and was eventually sold. Nonetheless, there is no debating the stamp of excellence and innovation firmly planted on the American automobile industry by the legendary Pierce-Arrow. SKU: SC09 SILVER

Other Diecast
First in Luxury, First in Prestige They certainly lost money on every one they built. In 1938, despite a new better performing engine and gorgeous body by Fleetwood, only 315 were produced. Yet it was the V-16 engine that pushed Packard aside, making Cadillac Americas #1 Luxury Car. The V-16 engine was almost extinct in 1938, victim of Cadillacs own improvements in their V-8 engine. By 1940 only a handful were ordered and the V-16 was discontinued. SKU:SC03 RED
